*Applications are open to adopters who are EXPERIENCED with Bull breeds/dogs with behavioural issues and have a calm dog of similar breed and a child-free home* Cardi is a 2 year old Bull Arab X Great Dane. She is a loving and sweet girl who absolutely loves to play with her toys, especially her ball, and will happily entertain herself, but does prefer to share the fun with her human. Cardi also enjoys belly rubs and is very food orientated - which is great for training. Cardi has good basic training, but she does require an owner who has EXPERIENCE with Bull Arab breeds, as well as experience with dogs who have behavioural issues. When in the house she can stay on her bed for up to an hour and is nice and calm. She walks nicely on the lead without pulling. Cardi doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety, and can be left by herself as she Is quite independent. However, she is quite sensitive to stimuli (sounds, etc.) so she does bark quite a bit which is why it is IMPERATIVE she gets lots of mental stimulation! She would need a good management system. Cardi is crate-trained and loves her crate. Cardi requires someone who is happy to accommodate her unique individual needs and put in the time and effort to help her learn to focus and readjust her behaviour. Cardi does resource guard her food, and she also loses focus very quickly when distracted by other dogs or animals that she is keen to interact with, hence it is important that Cardi is walked on a leash with a soft muzzle. She needs a home with a decent sized and SECURE backyard as she does enjoy being outside, so there needs to be strong and secure fencing with no gaps. Cardi has been in care with an experienced dog trainer who has helped her become better focused. Cardi's forever family will have the ongoing professional support of our behaviourist. Ultimately we would love to see Cardi finally find a forever home where she can be nurtured, cared for, loved unconditionally, and can finally find the stability she deserves. She needs someone who has a flexible lifestyle and can spend a lot of time with her as she has a lot of prey drive, and if you don't find an outlet for it she will become restless and destructive. Cardi is still very much in that puppy stage which means she does like to destroy things, so don't leave your favourite shoes within reach! She is a very affectionate girl with good obedience, she is independent and would love an active home where her needs can be met. Is Cardi your Forever Friend?
